Class Syllabus

What is a syllabus?

A syllabus lets students and their families know what the class is about, standards being taught, class expectations, grading, and other information.  By clearly communicating expectations, teachers reduce confusion about grades and the schedule of material being taught.

All classes in the Knox County Public Schools have a syllabus developed.  This is one way that we are preparing students for learning after high school.  College courses all include a syllabus about the class.

How can I use the syllabus as a student or family member?

The syllabus is one location that you can find your teacher’s name, contact information, course name, grading policy, classroom expectations, and standards that are to be taught.  It provides an overview of the class for the entire semester or year.
